Customize ArcGIS Pro with geoprocessing tools

You can save a custom set of geoprocessing tools in an ArcGIS project so the most important tasks of your project can be quickly and easily completed. The set of tools you save in a project can contain both ArcGIS tools and custom tools that you've built or that others have shared with you. Similarly, you can also configure the ribbon or Quick Access Toolbar with geoprocessing tools you want to access from those locations. Customization of the ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar applies to all the projects used by your user account on your machine.

The following locations can be configured with custom sets of geoprocessing tools:

  • Analysis gallery
  • Geoprocessing pane Favorites
  • Project toolboxes
  • Any ribbon tab or the Quick Access Toolbar

You can use a project template to import a set of tools from one project to your current project or to a new project.

You can add geoprocessing tools to the Analysis gallery.

To add a tool to the gallery, right-click a tool in the Geoprocessing pane and select Add To Analysis Gallery. Additionally, you can expand the gallery and select Customize to modify the groups and tools contained in the gallery.

Favorites

You can add geoprocessing tools to the Favorites list in the Geoprocessing pane. To add a tool to this list, right-click a tool in the Geoprocessing pane and select Add To Favorites.

Project toolboxes

You can add a toolbox containing tools important to a project to the project toolboxes, which is shortcut to the toolbox maintained with the project.

To add a toolbox to your project, right-click a toolbox in a folder or database connection and select Add To Project. You can also click Project > Toolbox > Add Toolbox on the Insert ribbon tab.

Customize the ribbon or Quick Access Toolbar

You can add geoprocessing tools to any location on the ribbon and to the Quick Access Toolbar. This includes system tools as well as custom model and script tools that have been added to your project. This customization is stored in your user directory and applies to any project you open.

To add a tool to the ribbon, complete the following steps:

  1. Click Project > Options > Customize the Ribbon.
  2. Under Choose commands from, select Geoprocessing Tools.
  3. Search for and select the tool from the list of geoprocessing tools.
  4. Select the ribbon tab and group where you want to add the selected tool from the list of Tabs on the right.
  5. Click the Add button.

To add a tool to the Quick Access Toolbar, complete the following steps:

  1. Click Project > Options > Quick Access Toolbar.
  2. Under Choose commands from, select Geoprocessing Tools.
  3. Search for and select the tool from the list of geoprocessing tools.
  4. Click the Add button.
