If you created a locator in ArcCatalog or the Catalog window of ArcMap, ArcScene, or ArcGlobe and it is stored in a file folder, no action is necessary to use that locator in ArcGIS Pro. It is automatically compatible.
However, if you created a locator in one of those applications and saved it in a geodatabase, it won't be accessible from ArcGIS Pro. Locators stored in geodatabases cannot be added to your project or referenced in geoprocessing tools. Additionally, you cannot create or save new locators in geodatabases. To use them in ArcGIS Pro, you need to transfer them or make copies of them in file folders.
Once you complete the following steps, you can use your locators in ArcGIS Pro:
- Open ArcMap, and browse to the locator in your geodatabase using the Catalog pane.
- Right-click on your locator, and choose Copy from the drop-down menu.
- Right-click on the file folder you want to save your locator in, and choose Paste from the drop-down menu. If necessary, you can create a new folder connection to the folder so that it appears in the Catalog pane.
Once you have completed this copying process, the locator will now be accessible in ArcGIS Pro from the file folder where it was saved. Any new locators that you create using ArcGIS Pro will need to be saved in file folders as well, but you will be prompted to do so and will receive an error message if you attempt otherwise.
