When you select features in a map, you can delete them by pressing the Delete key, clicking Delete on the Edit tab in the Selection group, or right-clicking the map and using the context menu.
Delete a feature
To delete a feature, on the Edit tab, in the Selection group, click Select and select the feature. Press the Delete key or click Delete
.
- On the Edit tab in the Selection group, click Select
and select the features.
- Do one of the following:
- Press the Delete key.
- Right-click and click Delete
.
- On the Edit tab in the Selection group, click Delete
.
The selected feature is deleted from the map.
Delete a part of a multipart feature
To delete a part of a multipart or multipoint feature, click Vertices or Continue Feature
and select the feature. In the pane, click any row for the nested part, right-click the row, click Part, and click Delete Part on the context menu.
- On the Edit tab in the Features group, click Modify
.
The Modify Features pane appears.
- Expand Reshape and click one of the following:
- Vertices
- Continue Feature
The tool opens in the pane.
- Vertices
- In the pane, click Active Select
, and select the feature you want to delete.
The selected feature appears as a list in the pane, and its component parts and vertex coordinates appear in the vertices table.
- If you select more than one feature, click an item in the pane to flash it in the map, right-click the feature in the list you want to edit, and click Only Select This
on the context menu.
- In the vertex table, click any row for the nested part.
In the map, the handle for the vertex changes to a solid fill.
- Right-click the row, click Part, and click Delete Part on the context menu.
The deleted part highlights in the map, and the vertex handles disappear.
- Right-click and click Finish
or press the F2 key.
