Turn snapping on or off by layer

In the Contents pane, the check boxes on the List by Snapping tab List By Snapping turn snapping on or off by layer. You can manage snapping for individual layers or right-click and make one layer the only snappable layer. These settings are saved with the project.

Turn snapping on or off for a layer

Turn snapping on or off by layer when you need to isolate one or more layers to which you are snapping.

  1. On the View tab in the Windows group, click Contents Contents.

    The Contents pane appears.

  2. Click List by Snapping List By Snapping.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Check a layer's check box to turn snapping on.
    • Uncheck a layer's check box to turn snapping off.

Make only one layer snappable

To make one layer the only snappable layer, right-click the layer, and click Make this the only snappable layer.

  1. On the View tab in the Windows group, click Contents Contents.

    The Contents pane appears.

  2. Click List by Snapping List By Snapping.
  3. Right-click the layer, and click Make this the only editable layer Point on the context menu.
