Keyboard shortcuts for editing tools that create and modify features are listed in the following tables. Individual tables appear throughout the documentation in the applicable topics.

General Editing

Pan Pan

Pans continuously when you press the C key and drag the pointer.

Zooms out continuously when you press the X key and drag the pointer.

Temporarily turns snapping off when you press and hold the Spacebar.

Cancel Edits Cancel Changes

Cancels an unfinished edit.

Finish Finish

Stops editing new geometry and creates a finished feature.

Create annotation

Find Text Find Text

Replaces the text string in the text box with the label expression or field value from the topmost selected feature layer. Selecting feature-linked annotation calculates the text only from the origin feature class. If a text string can’t be calculated, the string is set to the word Text.

Constrains segments parallel to an existing segment when you hover over the existing segment and press the P key.

Perpendicular Perpendicular

Constrains segments perpendicular to an existing segment when you hover over the existing segment and press the E key.

Cancel Edits Cancel Changes

Cancels an unfinished feature.

F3

Square and Finish Square and Finish

Autocompletes the last two segments of a polyline or polygon feature at right angles, and finishes the feature.

F4

Shift+Double-click

Finish Part Finish Part

Completes the geometry of an unfinished feature, enabling you to create a multipart feature.

Spacebar

Snapping List By Snapping

Temporarily turns snapping off when you press and hold the Spacebar. Temporarily turns snapping on when you are creating freehand polyline or polygon features.
