In the Modify Features pane, Replace Multipatch replaces a multipatch feature in a scene with a 3D model you select and import from your file system. It is imported to the target geodatabase multipatch feature class and inserted at the same location as the feature it replaces. You can import COLLADA (.dae), 3D Studio (.3ds), and other supported formats.
As an alternative to using the pane, you can right-click and use the context menu. For steps to create a new multipatch feature from a 3D model using a feature template, see Add a 3D model as a multipatch feature.
To replace a multipatch feature with a 3D model, click Replace Multipatch , browse to the 3D model on your local or network file system, and click Open.
- On the Edit tab in the Features group, click Modify .
The Modify Features pane appears.
- Expand Reshape and click Replace Multipatch
Select runs automatically.
- Select the multipatch feature.
The file browser opens.
- Browse to the 3D model and click Open.
The 3D model is imported to the target geodatabase multipatch feature class and inserted at the same location as the feature it replaces.
- To clear the selection, right-click and click Clear.
