Upgrade Dataset

Summary

Upgrades the schema of a mosaic dataset, network dataset, annotation dataset, parcel fabric, or utility network to the current ArcGIS release. Upgrading the dataset allows the dataset to make use of new functionality available in the current software release.

Usage

  • Before a dataset can be upgraded, the geodatabase in which it resides must be upgraded to the current release using the Upgrade Geodatabase tool.

  • Before you upgrade your dataset, be sure to create a backup.

  • When upgrading a utility network dataset, the following is required:

    • Upgrading a utility network requires an exclusive lock meaning that you must close any active connections to the dataset which may include stopping the utility network service.
    • The input utility network layer must be from a geodatabase connection that is connected as the data owner, and connected to the branch version.
    • The connected ArcGIS Enterprise portal account must be the utility network owner.

  • Versioned annotation feature classes cannot be upgraded.

  • Once upgraded, your annotation dataset will no longer be available for use in ArcMap. The following table describes how annotation is supported:
