This error may also be returned if the input dataset you specified is earlier than a 10.0 dataset. Editor tracking can be enabled on 10.0 and later version datasets only.

Read more about the Enable Editor Tracking tool to see which data types are supported.
If your dataset is earlier than a 10.0 dataset, specify a 10.0 or later version dataset, or upgrade your dataset to a later version.
