Maintain an aeronautical chart

Mit der Aviation Charting-Lizenz verfügbar.

Maintaining an aeronautical chart is similar to creating one, but when data changes, some tools provide additional functionality so you can update the chart instead of re-creating it. Use the following workflow to update an existing chart:

  1. Run the Report Aviation Chart Changes tool to identify the features that have changed and the charts that are affected by those changes.

The tool compares two versions of the database (before and after the data updates) to identify what was changed by the data update process.

  2. Run the Generate Aviation Cartographic Features tool to update cartographic features.

This ensures that the cartographic features are in sync with the updated main features. In addition to creating new cartographic features, the tool deletes cartographic features for items that were removed by the data update. It also synchronizes the geometry of cartographic features for items that may have moved.

  3. Run the Prepare Aviation Data tool to add or update feature attributes.

The attributes that are used for symbology and labeling need to be migrated from any new main features onto their corresponding cartographic features. Additionally, updated main features need their attribute changes to be reflected in the corresponding cartographic features. For example, if a feature’s label uses attributes stored on a main feature or in a related table and those attributes change, they also need to be updated on the cartographic feature so that its label is correct.

  4. Update masks on aeronautical features.

    Tipp:

When maintaining an existing chart, you only need to run the Make Masks from Rules tool. The Apply Masks from Rules tool is used when creating a chart.
