Issues Addressed
The list of issues addressed describes bugs that were reported to Esri Technical Support and are fixed in the latest versions of ArcGIS Pro.
Issues addressed at ArcGIS Pro 1.1.1
ArcGIS Pro 1.1 Patch 1 (1.1.1) fixes the issues listed in the table below. No new functionality is included with this patch. Therefore, you can expect the following items to work seamlessly between 1.1 (1.1.0) and 1.1.1:
- Project files, project templates, and project packages (.aprx, .aptx, and ppkx).
- Layer files and layer packages (.lyrx and .lpkx).
- Layout files (.pagx).
- Map files and map packages (.mapx and .mpkx).
- Task files (.esriTask). A warning message appears in 1.1.0 when using a task created in 1.1.1; however, if it works in 1.1.1 it will also work in 1.1.0.
- Custom functionality built using the ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET.
- Custom tools built using geoprocessing or the ArcGIS Pro ArcPy site package.
- Packaging, publishing, and sharing (for example, publishing web maps to ArcGIS Online).

Known Issues
There are a number of known limitations and issues in the current release of ArcGIS Pro.
Analysis and geoprocessing
3D Analyst
- Display of a terrain dataset is not supported.
- Interactive editing of LAS datasets is not supported.
- Visibility-related tools do not support extruded features as 3D inputs.
- Edits to TIN and LAS dataset layers will not be reflected in the display.
- There is no graph output for Stack Profile or Skyline Graph.
Unsupported tools
Many geoprocessing tools are not yet supported in ArcGIS Pro.
Editing and Data Reviewer
Editing
- When tracing one entire feature, unexpected results may occur.
- Snapping is automatically disabled for feature services. This is intended to prevent unexpected downgrades in snapping performance while editing and will be addressed in future releases. When this occurs, on the Edit tab, click Snapping and toggle snapping On.
- Links in the Edit Status dialog box to Help topics that explain the status message are not fully implemented. Some links redirect you to the ArcGIS Pro home page. When this occurs, you can find the topic by typing the message or one or more keywords in the Quick Search box and pressing Enter.
- If some layer properties for a layer are changed while new features are being added, the feature being edited will not reflect those properties until the edit is completed.
- The Buffer command currently available in ArcMap is not available in this release of ArcGIS Pro.
- When layer symbology is set to Unique Values, you cannot change the symbol class in the attributes table from a list of unique values.
- Vertex handle color displayed while editing a feature cannot be changed.
- If a tool is active on the Modify Features pane, rows that appear selected in an open standalone table are only highlighted. To truly select rows, the Modify Features pane must be closed.
Data Reviewer
Reviewer Batch Jobs:
- The Connectivity Rules check is not supported for execution on ArcGIS Pro. Validation of geometric network datasets can be implemented using ArcGIS Data Reviewer Desktop.
- The Custom check is not supported for execution on ArcGIS Pro.
- The Metadata check is not supported for execution on ArcGIS Pro. Validation of item metadata can be implemented using ArcGIS Data Reviewer Desktop.
- Batch jobs added from a UNC path are copied in a project package when saved to a file with Share outside of Organization option unchecked.
Reviewer Results:
- Session Results project items are not supported when packaging projects.
- Session Results project items are not supported in templates.
- Add Session context menu item is not disabled when there is an invalid Reviewer workspace connection.
- Column sorting in the Reviewer Results pane is not supported for keyboard accessibility.
- Update Results pane does not support either Undo or Redo of edits.
Geoprocessing tools:
- The Execute Reviewer Batch JobAnalysis Area parameter does not provide a list of feature classes when the feature layer option is selected.
Data management and geodatabase
Geocoding and addresses
- Locator Properties are currently only supported for regular locators stored in a folder and added to a project. Locator properties are not currently supported for portal locators, locators added from a server connection, and composite locators.
- Suggestions are supported in the Locate pane only for locators that are added automatically through the user's portal, not for local locators added from a folder location or for locators added through a server connection.
Geodatabases
- If you assign a coded value domain and default value for a subtype, and keep the focus on the default value while the domain is uncommitted, clicking Save does not apply changes for that subtype.
- The Indexes tab on Layer properties is read-only for shapefiles and feature classes stored in a SQL Server geodatabase.
- After Reconcile and Post, if you change the version to another version, open the Version Manager and try to delete the source version of the Reconcile and Post, the delete may fail with the error Version in Use. The workaround is to reopen the project; then the version can be deleted.
- Register as Versioned fails on a feature class stored within a user schema Oracle geodatabase.
- Unable to add a feature class to the current map when using an Operating System Authentication for Oracle connection.
- In Fields View, updating the field alias on a field that has been marked for deletion sets the row to be read-only.
- If a SQLite database item is added to the map from a folder connection, the layer is not displayed in the data source view of the Contents pane.
- The field mapping for shapefiles has changed. All existing data can be read correctly with the changes. Error handling when loading shapefiles has been enhanced, so some data that previously loaded may fail.
- There is a driver compatibility issue with ArcGIS Pro 1.1 and Teradata 15.0 ODBC. A workaround is to use Teradata 14.x ODBC driver.
- Setting a definition query on a stand-alone table from Excel does not return any records if the table has a text field (text field does not need to be involved in actual query).
- For database connections (non-gdb), the context menu should not give the option to create geodatabase items (feature datasets, relationship classes, etc). Only feature classes and tables are valid choices.
- Cannot copy a file geodatabase from the Databases folder in the Project pane to another folder.
- If a geodatabase is added to the project (Insert tab > Connections > Add Database), but an item is not selected in the Project pane, the Undo button is disabled.
- Data stored in a file geodatabase that is located in a folder which has '.gdb' at the end of the folder name, cannot be added to the map. An example for how this could occur is unzipping a zipped file geodatabase, and the folder will get named something like data.gdb. The workaround is to remove '.gdb' from the folder name by renaming the folder.
- There may be issues using SQLite and database (non-geodatabase) tables and feature classes as input to geoprocessing tools.
- Database Connection dialog box
- Some enterprise geodatabase connections created in an earlier version of ArcGIS Pro may appear to no longer work. To fix this problem, make any edit to the connection file properties and click OK. For example, re-enter your user name and password and click OK.
- If the connection dialog box for a connection with an unsaved username and password is canceled, the connection is not shown as broken, and expanding and collapsing shows no data. The workaround is to refresh the connection to bring up the connection dialog box again.
- A mix of saved and unsaved connections to the same database could cause unsaved connections to inherit properties from saved connections. Best practice is to limit using only a single unsaved username and password connection to a given database per project.
- Connecting to Microsoft Azure SQL Database fails with a connection error at ArcGIS Pro 1.1 release.
- Geoprocessing tools
- Changes made to domains, subtypes, and indexes using geoprocessing tools may not be reflected in the Design Views until the project is closed and reopened.
- Deleting a version using the Delete Version geoprocessing tool or the delete version parameter in the Reconcile Versions geoprocessing tool will delete the version even if it is still in use.
- The Alter Field geoprocessing tool lists the field alias instead of the field name in the field name parameter.
- The new fields that may be added to a table by executing the Enable Editor Tracking or Add Global IDs geoprocessing tools will not be reflected in the table until the project is closed and reopened.
- Layers created using the Create Database View geoprocessing tool should not be used in Domains or Subtypes view. ArcGIS Pro may crash when changes are saved.
- The Overlay Route Events geoprocessing tool is not functioning correctly. Workaround: use the Python window in ArcGIS Pro to perform route overlays.
- The CreateSQLiteDatabase geoprocessing tool has no output node in Modelbuilder.
- The arcpy.gp.CreateSQLiteDatabase function returns a result object instead of the path to the database.
- Using an Excel worksheet stand-alone table layer as input to the Add Global IDs geoprocessing tool, may crash ArcGIS Pro.
Help system
- The table of contents in the offline help system may not be synchronized with the topics in a few areas of the help.
- Notes can disappear when navigating between topics.
- The pop-up help for the Generate Map Server Cache Tiling Scheme tool is unavailable.
Imagery and raster
- Swipe does not work in 3D.
- The XYZ format is not working.
- There is no way to choose which subdataset to show within a multipage image. The first subdataset always displays by default.
- You will see artifacts when working with function chains using DRA (Dynamic Range Adjustment) or when applying DRA using the Appearance tab.
- Resetting Data Source on a raster or mosaic dataset layer does not refresh the renderer or update the layer name.
- Browsing to an image service and adding it as an input to a mosaic dataset does not work in the Add Rasters To Mosaic Dataset tool.
- Publishing mosaic datasets as image services is not supported.
- The Make Raster Layer tool fails when you specify a WHERE clause, and some tools fail after using this as an input.
- The Extents environment setting is not being honored.
- Processing templates cannot be used on image services from a single image.
- The processing templates list is blank for image services from mosaic datasets that do not have any server functions published with them.
- The Raster Processing pane does not perform any validation and allows you to use functions that require specific inputs.
- The application may crash if you are using a raster function template (.rft.xml) created in ArcGIS Desktop that references a secure image service. If you want to use this raster function template, remove all input datasets from the .rft.xml file before using it in ArcGIS Pro.
- Broken raster layers, image services, and mosaic datasets do not show any information on the source tab and cannot be repaired.
- Because of computational demand, zoom to a 1:1 resolution before executing the Segmentation Mean Shift function.
- Raster catalog support has been deprecated. You can use the following workflow to convert a raster catalog to a mosaic dataset.
- Packaging a project that includes a raster product or a function chain that uses two or more raster datasets will fail.
- The Export Tile Cache tool will fail if you try to export your cache as a Tile Package.
- Saving a function chain from the Contents pane may fail. If it does, open the Raster Processing pane and save again.
- The Geometric function is not producing the correct output.
- Applying a function on an image service with a Processing Template applied results in the function getting applied on the source data instead of the template result.
- The Segmentation Mean Shift geoprocessing tool supports file output only. If a .GDB output is specified, an error message will ask the user to output the segmented dataset to file.
- Sharing a mosaic dataset as a web map or web tile layer will cause a crash.
- Search history is not persisted in the Functions pane.
Installation and licensing
Licensing
- Named user accounts lock if there is a clock rollback and the user has authorized ArcGIS Pro to work offline.
Install
- The initial release of ArcGIS Pro 1.1 is only available with an English user interface. Version 1.1 is incompatible with language packs from previous versions. If you install ArcGIS Pro 1.1 English on a machine that has a version 1.0 language pack installed, your application display language will switch to English on startup.
- The ArcGIS Pro software update mechanism will not show updates to users who have an ArcGIS Pro 1.0 Language Pack installed until the ArcGIS Pro 1.1 non-English versions become available later this year. Any user who wants to update to English ArcGIS Pro 1.1 using the software update mechanism must first uninstall all ArcGIS Pro 1.0 language packs and ArcGIS Pro 1.0 Help.
- Manually installing the English version of ArcGIS Pro 1.1 on a machine with non-English ArcGIS Pro 1.0 Help and ArcGIS Pro 1.0 Language Pack can cause the ArcGIS Help Viewer application to crash when the help is launched. Esri recommends uninstalling all Language Packs and ArcGIS Pro non-English Help packages before performing a manual upgrade to ArcGIS Pro 1.1 English. Users who wish to use the Software Update mechanism do not need to uninstall anything. Software Update will install the correct version of all installed packages once the non-English versions of ArcGIS Pro 1.1 become available.
Mapping and visualization
Labeling
- It is not possible to set placement positions for polygon labels in 3D.
- One digit numeric text will not display Eastern Arabic digits when the locale or text symbol settings are set for this type of display.
Layout
- Differences in text symbol alignment behavior between ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro may cause text elements to change position when imported.
- OLE objects, tables, graphs, grids and graticules, neatlines, map frame clipping, and Data Driven Pages are not currently supported; therefore, they will be dropped on import.
- Guides may not always line up exactly with marks on the ruler. In these cases, the guide is in the correct position.
Navigation and map interaction
- You cannot specify a selection symbol per layer. If you import a map with a selection symbol set for a layer, the main color is extracted from the symbol and set as the selection color for that layer.
- Range has the following issues:
- It is not supported across linked views.
- When different ranges are set in multiple views of the same map, geoprocessing tools will only use the first view's range filter settings. This also applies to time filter settings.
- Range layer properties cannot be defined for multiple layers at once.
- Range slider properties are not persisted per range when multiple ranges are defined.
- Expressions are not yet supported for range definitions.
- Time is not supported across linked views.
- Tables do not honor current range and time properties for the associated layer.
Symbols
- Rendering may vary unexpectedly for the same symbol drawn in a 2D and 3D context.
- Custom geometric effects are stripped from symbols when they are converted from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro. There will be no indication that this has occurred, and symbol geometry logic may therefore be disrupted.
- Shape marker symbol layers have an option to Respect Frame. This option is currently disabled in all 2D maps and some cases in 3D scenes. At this time, in 3D scenes, a marker layer built from a glyph in a font can respect the frame, but only if a Depth is applied.
- Procedural symbol
layers may have the following issues:
- The symbol preview shows a sketch of only one procedural symbol layer at a time in multilayered symbols.
- Procedural symbol layer properties that define a color cannot support transparent colors.
Style management
- Searching for styles or within styles from a Project view is not yet available.
Map notes
- When using map notes in a scene, line and polygon map notes should be used only in 2D layers.
Projects
Backward compatibility
Projects, or .aprx files, created using ArcGIS Pro 1.1 cannot be opened using version 1.0. However, projects created using 1.0 can be opened in 1.1.
SDK
Visit the ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET wiki to find the current release notes.
Sharing and online
- Packages created in ArcGIS Pro can only be opened in ArcGIS Pro. If you have 10.x installed on the same machine, and you double-click a package created in ArcGIS Pro, you will receive a message that the package is invalid.
- Web scene layers cannot be published to ArcGIS Online.
- When sharing a web layer with a pop-up that is configured to include an image sourced from an attachment, the image is dropped from the web layer.
- The portal list may appear empty or take a long time to load if a listed portal is not available.
- Layer packages with "metadata" at the end of the name fail to consolidate. The following error is returned: Invalid function arguments.
- When using the ArcPy mapping method CreateWebLayerSDDraft, metadata and folder options are not honored.
- Overriding a service name in the Upload Service Definition geoprocessing tool only modifies the service item's title. It does not modify the service item name.
Tasks
- If a task item in a project package contains a task with a step that loads a geoprocessing script tool, the task step will lose its reference to the script tool when the project is unpacked. After unpacking the project, use the new task validation capability to point to the new location of the geoprocessing tools. You can work around this by placing the geoprocessing script tool on a network file location or by placing the tool in the same file location on all machines using the project.
