Get started with Visibility Analysis

Visibility analysis takes into consideration what can be seen by an observer from a given location. Key terrain, observation posts, and other locations can be used to assess capabilities (what can be seen) and vulnerabilities (what cannot be seen). The Visibility Analysis tools use elevation data and observer information to produce linear line of sight (LLOS) and radial line of sight (RLOS) information.

Visibility Analysis tools

To open the Visibility Analysis tools, complete the following steps:

  1. On the ribbon, click the Analysis tab.
  2. In the Workflows group, click Visibility Analysis Visibility Analysis.

Alternative tools

The Exploratory Analysis tools offer another way to analyze visibility in an interactive 3D environment. To learn more about these alternatives, see Interactive line of sight basics (for LLOS) and Interactive viewshed basics (for RLOS).
