Specify an x,y,z location

Absolute X,Y,Z Absolute XYZ creates a point feature or vertex at a specified coordinate location. It is available on the context menu when you create or edit a point, polyline, or polygon feature.

To specify an absolute x,y,z location, right-click and click Absolute X,Y,Z Absolute XYZ, or press the F6 key and specify the x,y,z coordinate location.

Note:

If you have clicked a construction tool, skip to step 4.

  1. On the Edit tab in the Features group, click Create Create Features.

    The Create Features pane appears.

  2. In the Create Features pane, click a polyline or polygon feature template.
  3. Click Point Point, Line Line, or Polygon Polygon.
  4. Specify an x,y,z coordinate location using one of the following methods:
    • Right-click and click Absolute X,Y,Z Absolute XYZ.
    • Press the F6 key.

    The Absolute X,Y,Z dialog box appears.

  5. On the Absolute X,Y,Z dialog box, type the x,y,z coordinates and press Enter.
  6. Note:

    When you work with z-enabled 3D features, the dialog box includes a field for z-values. Fields for z-values are defined when the feature class is initially created.

  7. When you finish creating the feature, right-click and click Finish Finish, or press the F2 key.
