Manage portal connections from ArcGIS Pro

ArcGIS Pro can connect to ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise. Connections can be added, set to active, removed, and edited from the Portals page in ArcGIS Pro. Additionally, you can switch your active portal from the Sign In menu Sign-in Status in the upper right-hand corner of ArcGIS Pro.

Note:

If you do not have any portal connections, the Sign In menu is not visible. In this case, click the Project tab on the ribbon and click the Portals page to add connections.

Set as active portal

By default, ArcGIS Online is your active portal. Your active portal connection is your online workspace. Content from your active portal appears on the Portals tab of the Catalog pane. You can switch between portals by changing which portal is set to active. On the Portals page, a green check mark Active Portal indicates the active portal.

To make a portal connection active, do one of the following:

  • Click the Project tab on the ribbon, click the Portals page, right-click the URL from the portal connection list, and click Set As Active Portal.
  • Click the Sign In menu Sign-in Status, click Switch Active Portal, and click the URL from the portal connection list.
Note:

While you may be signed in to multiple portals, you can only have one active portal in each instance of ArcGIS Pro.

Remove and edit portal connections

To remove a portal connection, click the URL from the portal connection list and click the delete button Delete. If you licensed ArcGIS Pro as a named user, you will not be able to remove the connection to your licensing portal. A key Licensing Portal indicates your licensing portal.

Note:

If the URL you are removing is your active portal, you will be automatically signed out and disconnected.

To edit a portal connection, right-click the URL from the portal connection list and click Edit Portal Connection. When you finish editing the portal connection information, click OK to save the changes.

Note:

The options to remove and edit portal connection are not available for the licensing portal.
