Components of a trace include starting points, barriers, and trace results. Starting points and barriers are removed from a map by using the commands in the Trace Locations pane. Trace results are removed from the map using the Clear tool.
Clear starting points
To clear starting points, complete the following steps:
- On the Trace Network Data tab, in the Tools group, click Trace Locations.
- In the Trace Locations pane, ensure the Starting Points tab is active.
- In the list of starting points, click the delete button next to the starting point you want to remove.
- Click Apply.
To clear all starting points, click Clear All under the list of starting points.
The specified starting points are removed from the active map.
Clear barriers
To clear barriers, complete the following steps:
- On the Trace Network Data tab, in the Tools group, click Trace Locations.
- In the Trace Locations pane, ensure the Barriers tab is active.
- In the list of barriers, click the delete button next to the barrier you want to remove.
- Click Apply.
To clear all barriers, click Clear All under the list of barriers.
The specified barriers are removed from the active map.
Clear the results of a trace
To clear trace results that are displayed as selections in the map view, complete the following steps:
- Select the map view to activate the Map tab.
- In the Selection group on the Map tab, click Clear.
All trace selection results are removed from the active map.
