ArcGIS Desktop license levels

There are three ArcGIS Desktop license levels: Basic, Standard, and Advanced. Each successive level adds functionality to the previous level.

The license level applies to the ArcGIS Desktop product as a whole. For example, if you have an ArcGIS Desktop Advanced license, this means that all the component applications (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcScene, and ArcGlobe) run at the Advanced level.

If you have multiple ArcGIS Desktop licenses, they can be at different levels. For example, you may have two ArcGIS Desktop Advanced licenses, three ArcGIS Desktop Standard licenses, and five ArcGIS Desktop Basic licenses.

Note:

ArcGIS Pro can also be purchased separately from ArcGIS Desktop as part of an ArcGIS subscription. You can purchase subscription-based licenses at any license level you want because they are independent of your ArcGIS Desktop licenses.

The following tables summarize the general functionality of each license level. For specific geoprocessing tools, the required license level can be found either in the tool's help topic (see the Licensing information section) or in the appropriate toolbox licensing topic. For example, Analysis toolbox licensing shows the required license levels for all analysis tools. Licensing information also indicates whether an extension is needed to use the tool.
