You can get updates for ArcGIS Pro by default when an update is released, or check for updates during a session.
Note:
You do not need to uninstall the previous version of ArcGIS Pro before installing the latest release.
Only one version of ArcGIS Pro can be installed on a machine at a time; when you install a new version, the old version is replaced.
Get ArcGIS Pro software updates
When a new version of ArcGIS Pro is available, a notification appears by default when you start ArcGIS Pro. Click the notification to open the ArcGIS Pro Settings page and download the software update.
Note:
If you are working in a project when a new version is available, a blue dot appears on the Notifications button at the top of the ArcGIS Pro window. Act on the notification to update the software.
Update notifications and language packs
If an ArcGIS Pro language pack is installed on your computer, update notifications for new software versions or patches do not appear until the language pack is available for that version or patch.
Turn off update notifications
If you don't want to receive update notifications, you can turn them off.
- Open the ArcGIS Pro Settings page in either of the following ways:
- On the ArcGIS Pro start page, click Settings .
- In an open project, click the Project tab on the ribbon.
- In the list of tabs on the left, click About.
- On the About page, uncheck the Check for updates on startup check box.
Block update notifications
As an administrator, you can block automatic update notifications for a per-machine installation of ArcGIS Pro. Browse to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Esri\ArcGISPro\Settings and set the value of CheckForUpdatesAtStartup to 0.
Major releases may cause compatibility problems with documents and add-ins. To block notifications for major updates only, browse to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESRI\ArcGISPro\Settings. Create a DWORD value named BlockMajorUpdateNotifications and set the value to 1.
