Configure a preset template

Preset templates are customized in Template Properties. After a preset template is created, you can edit the name, add or remove searchable tags, override geodatabase default values, configure the tool palette, remove feature templates, and move the insertion anchor.

To create a preset template, select the features in the map in the orientation that most of your use cases require and create it in the Manage Templates pane. The preset template symbol Preset Template is assigned to all preset templates and can’t be configured.

Open template properties

You can open the Template Properties dialog box Properties in the Manage Templates or the Create Features pane.

The Manage Templates pane displays all templates defined for the project.

    • You can also click the forward arrow Forward and click the menu button Menu.

Configure the tool palette

On the Tools tab, choose which tool runs automatically when a template is clicked and show or hide the other tools that appear on the tool palette. Preset templates are limited to point feature construction tools.

  1. In the Template Properties dialog box, click Tools.
  2. Click and enable Click to set as default tool for the tool you want to run automatically when the template is selected.
  3. Check the Toggle tool visibility check box and enable the construction tools you want available in the tool palette.

Set attribute values

On the Features tab, click a feature template name and type attributes values in the applicable fields to override the default geodatabase values and apply them to features the template creates.

Caution:

In this release of ArcGIS Pro, preset templates do not support attribute fields for raster data, attachments, or binary large objects (BLOBs).

  1. In the Template Properties dialog box, click Features.
  2. In the feature attribute table, type the attribute values you want applied to new features.
    • To view a default geodatabase value, hover over the field name.
  3. Click OK.

Your settings are saved and the dialog box closes.
