Rename a geodatabase

Available with Standard or Advanced license.

You can rename file geodatabases, mobile geodatabases, and database connection files in your project. You cannot rename OGC GeoPackage files or enterprise geodatabases.

Rename a file geodatabase

Follow these steps to rename a file geodatabase in ArcGIS Pro:

  1. Add the file geodatabase to your project if it isn't already there.

    The file geodatabase must be part of your project for you to rename it.

  2. Click Databases in the Catalog pane, right-click the file geodatabase, and click Rename.
  3. Type a new name and press Enter.

Rename a database connection file

You can rename a database connection file to help you identify the database or enterprise geodatabase the connection file accesses.

  1. Expand the Databases folder in the Project tab in the Catalog pane.
  2. Right-click the database connection file and click Rename.
  3. Type a new name and press Enter.
