Deploy and license the parcel fabric

You can deploy the parcel fabric on a file geodatabase, a mobile geodatabase, or an enterprise geodatabase. Parcel fabric versions must be deployed on their minimum required release versions of ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise and on their minimum supported database versions.

Deployment types

The parcel fabric uses the following two deployment types:

  • Enterprise deployment—For a multiuser editing environment
  • Single-user deployment—For a single-user editing environment

These deployments have the following ArcGIS platform compatibility requirements:

Deploy in an enterprise environment

In an enterprise environment, the parcel fabric is edited and maintained using a services-based architecture. A services-based architecture allows you to share the parcel fabric across all platforms (desktop, mobile, and web), and different workflows can be enabled on different clients in the field and in the office.

ArcGIS Enterprise uses web services and can be installed on-premises or in a cloud-based environment.

Learn more about ArcGIS Enterprise

The benefits of deploying the parcel fabric in an enterprise environment include the following:

  • Improved scalability and performance. Maintain large parcel fabrics in a multiuser environment.
  • Branch versioning. Work with historic moments.
  • Management of user types, roles, and privileges.
  • Enhanced editor tracking capabilities with branch versioning. For example, you can track users who delete features within a version.
  • Use of web services. Share and edit data across multiple clients (desktop, web, and mobile) in real time.
  • Integration with external business systems and automation using the parcel fabric REST API.

Note:

The parcel fabric version is not backward compatible. For example, a version 2 parcel fabric is not compatible with ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1. The minimum required ArcGIS Pro release, the parcel fabric version, and the minimum ArcGIS Enterprise release numbers must match the numbers in the table above.

Licensing

Parcel fabric enterprise and single-user deployments require the following licensing:

DeploymentRequired ArcGIS Pro license levelIncludesWeb and mobile clients

Enterprise

Standard/Advanced

GIS Professional user type (Standard/Advanced) and the ArcGIS Parcel Fabric user type extension

ArcGIS Parcel Fabric add-on license is required

Single-user

Standard/Advanced

ArcGIS Pro license (Standard/Advanced)

Not supported

Note:

The ArcGIS Parcel Fabric user type extension is applicable to ArcGIS Pro 2.5 or later and ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8 or later. In an enterprise deployment, the license level is assigned to the Named User as a ArcGIS Parcel Fabric.

Learn more about user types

In an enterprise deployment, the parcel fabric is published to Portal for ArcGIS. It is recommended that you publish your parcel fabric to the same portal that is used to manage licenses.

Note:

In an enterprise deployment, if you license ArcGIS Pro using Single Use, Named User in ArcGIS Online, or Concurrent Use licensing, the administrator of the portal hosting the parcel fabric service must assign the ArcGIS Parcel Fabric user type extension as a separate add-on license to the appropriate portal users.
