On the Edit tab, in the Snapping group, click the Snapping button to turn snapping on or off. Snap agent settings remain unaffected when snapping is turned off. Click the drop-down arrow to enable or disable snap agents or change optional settings.
Snapping allows you to precisely click sketched geometry or other features to specific geometry on other features such as to the nearest vertex or endpoint. The enabled snap agents become active when you hover near a feature within the snapping tolerance distance.
Tip:
To prevent unwanted snapping to features on specific layers, for example when georeferencing, measuring, or tracing features, turn snapping off by layer.
Turn snapping on or off
- On the ribbon, click the Edit tab. In the Snapping group, click
Snapping .
- Alternatively, click Snapping on the status bar at the bottom of the active map or scene.
Each subsequent click turns snapping on or off.
Tip:
Press and hold the spacebar to temporarily turn off snapping as you create, modify, or measure features.
Enable snap agents
Click the drop-down arrow to enable the snap agents you want active when snapping is turned on.
- On the ribbon, click the Edit tab. In the Snapping group, click the Snapping drop-down arrow .
- Alternatively, click Snapping on the status bar at the bottom of the active map or scene.
- Click a snap agent to enable or disable it.
Enabled snap agents appear shaded.
