You can duplicate parcels using the Duplicate Parcels command in the Tools gallery on the Parcel Record Workflows tab. When duplicating parcels, an active record must be set in the map.
Parcels can be duplicated in the following ways:
- Duplicate to a different parcel type.
- Duplicate to a different subtype in the same parcel type.
- Duplicate to a different subtype in a different parcel type.
Similarly, parcel seeds can be duplicated to subtypes and different parcel types.
Note:
If parcels with subtypes are duplicated to a parcel type that has no subtypes, the original subtypes are not transferred.
To duplicate parcels, follow these steps:
- Set a record as active in the map.
The duplicated parcels are associated with the active record.
- Select the parcels you want to duplicate and click Duplicate Parcels in the Tools gallery on the Parcel Record Workflows tab.
- On the Duplicate Parcels dialog box, choose the parcel type to duplicate to and if available, choose the parcel subtype.
Parcel subtypes are available if they exist on the selected parcel type.
- Build the active record or the map extent to update the record polygon.
Building the parcel fabric updates the parcel record polygons to reflect any parcels that have been added to or removed from the parcel records.
Parcel features
When duplicating a parcel to the same parcel type, only the parcel polygons are duplicated. When duplicating a parcel to a different parcel type, both the parcel polygon and the lines that define the polygon are duplicated. Attributes in any matching attribute fields (same name and type) are transferred to the duplicated parcel.
Parcel features are duplicated as follows:
- Points are not duplicated.
- If the parcel being duplicated shares a boundary with an adjacent parcel of the same type, the original boundary remains for the adjacent parcel. A new boundary is added for the parcel being duplicated to a different parcel type.
- If the parcel being duplicated has overlapping boundaries with an adjacent parcel of the same type, the boundary that is associated with the same record as the parcel is duplicated to the parcel type.
- If both overlapping boundaries are associated with the same record and are identical, both lines are duplicated to the parcel type for the parcel. You can choose which line to use for the parcel boundary, and delete any redundant lines.
- After duplicating a parcel to a different parcel type, overlapping boundaries may result between parcels of the same parcel type and record. You can delete redundant overlapping boundaries.
- Historic parcels are not created when parcels are duplicated.
