Direction, distance, and elevation commands

Direction, distance, and elevation commands specify x-, y-, and z-coordinate values for the current feature segment you are actively sketching. They are available as individual commands that operate with the active construction tool.

CommandDescription

Direction Direction

Constrains the current segment to the specified direction value. Pitch in the z-direction can be specified when the feature is z-aware. To complete the segment, specify a distance.

Note:

This tool is Ground to Grid and COGO aware.

Distance Distance

Constrains the current segment to the specified distance. To complete the segment, specify a direction.

Direction/Distance Direction-Distance

Creates a vertex at the specified horizontal direction and distance measured from the last vertex. Pitch in the z-direction can be specified when the feature is z-aware.

Note:

This tool is Ground to Grid and COGO aware.

Deflection Deflection

Constrains the current segment to the specified angle measured from the last segment. To complete the segment, specify a distance.

Segment Deflection Segment Deflection

Constrains the current segment to a specified angle measured from an existing right-clicked feature segment.

Absolute X,Y,Z Move To

Creates a vertex or a point feature at the specified x- and y-coordinate location. A z-value can be specified when the feature is z-aware.

Delta X,Y,Z Move

Creates a vertex at the specified x- and y-coordinate location measured from the last vertex. A z-value can be specified when the feature is z-aware.

Constant Constant.

Specifies a constant z-value when sketching z-aware features. In a 3D scene, click the active view to autofill this value.

Surface Surface

Specifies a z-value from a clicked elevation surface in the map. This is available only with maps containing one or more elevation surfaces.
