Edit and format annotation text

The Annotation tool Edit Annotation allows you to edit and format text for a selected annotation feature directly in the map without needing to navigate to an attribute table. This tool is available in the Modify Features pane.

When you use this tool, consider the following:

  • In some cases, annotation created in a previous release of ArcGIS Pro can’t be edited until you upgrade the annotation dataset with the Upgrade Dataset geoprocessing tool.
  • The annotation selection tool selects only annotation features and excludes other feature types from a selection.
  • To prevent unintended rotation or scaling, uncheck Enable rotate and resize.

To edit text, select the annotation feature, double-click inside the selection box, and type the new text.
