You can separate, or explode, multipart parcels into individual parcels in the parcel fabric. Exploding multipart parcels can occur in workflows in which multiple parcels under a single ownership are sold to different owners.
When exploding a multipart parcel in a record-driven workflow, parcel data is updated as follows:
- The exploded parcels are associated with the active record, which is the parcel record that defined them. The Created By Record field of the exploded parcels is populated with the GlobalID of the active parcel record.
- The original multipart parcel is saved as historic. The Retired By Record field of the original multipart parcel is populated with the GlobalID of the active parcel record (the record that defined the new exploded parcels).
- The Created Parcel Count and Retired Parcel Count fields of the active record are updated with the created and retired parcel counts. To view the attribute fields of the active record, click the menu on the active record control and click Record Properties.
- The Stated Area field of the exploded parcels is updated with the area of each individual, exploded parcel.
To explode parcels in a record-driven workflow, the general steps are as follows:
- Create the parcel record and set it as active in the map.
- Use the Explode tool under Divide in the Tools gallery on the Parcel Record Workflows tab to explode parcels.
You can explode all parts of the multipart parcel into individual parcels or you can explode only specified parts while keeping other parts in the multipart parcel.
- Update attributes of the exploded parcels.
