Generate a survey-based Indoor Positioning Dataset

Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the ArcGIS IPS extension.

To generate a survey-based Indoor Positioning Dataset, complete the following steps:

  1. Start ArcGIS Pro.
  2. Open an ArcGIS IPS map or prepare a new map in ArcGIS Pro.
  3. On the ribbon, click the Analysis tab and click Tools Tools.

    The Geoprocessing pane appears.

  4. In the Geoprocessing pane, click the Toolboxes tab.
  5. Expand Indoor Positioning Tools and click Generate Indoor Positioning Dataset.

    The Generate Indoor Positioning Dataset tool opens in the Geoprocessing pane.

  6. Click the Target IPS Positioning Datasets drop-down arrow, or click the Browse button Browse, and choose the IPS Positioning Datasets feature class.
  7. Provide a unique name for the dataset in the Dataset Name text box.

    A warning message appears, informing you that a dataset with the same name already exists and a new one will be created if you proceed.

  8. Click the Generation Method drop-down arrow and click Survey-based.
  9. Click the Level Features drop-down arrow, or click the Browse button Browse, and choose the Levels feature class.
  10. Click the IPS Recordings Features drop-down arrow, or click the Browse button Browse, and choose the IPS Recordings feature class.
  11. Click Run.

The tool uses the relationship classes to generate IPS Positioning Points and the IPS Positioning Signals related to the Target IPS Positioning Datasets feature class and populates them with positioning data.
