Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the ArcGIS IPS extension.
Indoor positioning data can be generated using survey data collected with ArcGIS IPS Setup, available for iOS and Android devices. This approach requires planning and conducting surveys, and is compatible with both Bluetooth-based and WiFi-based deployments.
Note:
Survey-less positioning can be used with only Bluetooth-based IPS deployments and offers a streamlined process for generating indoor positioning data.
The survey-based indoor positioning workflow consists of two steps:
- Create recordings.
Conduct a survey to collect radio signal data by recording the signal strength and other relevant parameters at various locations within the indoor environment.
- Generate an Indoor Positioning Dataset.
Use the created recordings to generate an indoor positioning dataset.
Note:
If you are using an ArcGIS IPS Information Model from ArcGIS Pro 3.2 or earlier, it is recommended that you update to the latest version for enhanced functionality and support. However, if you cannot update because you are using an app that does not support the latest ArcGIS IPS Information Model, you can generate a positioning file using the Generate Indoor Positioning File tool. This tool is available in the Classic toolset of the Indoor Positioning toolbox.
