Create geoprocessing models for existing diagram templates

Starting with ArcGIS Pro 3.6, you can use the Create Geoprocessing Model From Diagram Template tool to create geoprocessing models detailing the sequence of network diagram configuration tools used to set up the diagram rules and diagram layouts currently configured on your diagram templates. This tool can be used in various situations, such as the followings:

  • You lose the geoprocessing model you initially created to configure your diagram template.
  • You want to make sure that the last saved geoprocessing model you have for your custom template reflects its current settings.
  • You restored a utility network dataset from a custom asset package or have a copy of the utility network dataset, and you want to understand how the custom templates installed with this dataset are set up.

Then, with the output geoprocessing model created by the Create Geoprocessing Model From Diagram Template tool, you can analyze and check your diagram template settings. You can also edit the rule or layout parameters you want to change and run the edited geoprocessing model to include these changes into your diagram template rule and layout definitions.

Caution:

The diagram rule and diagram layout settings may have been extended compared to the version of ArcGIS Pro used to initially create the template geoprocessing model. This means that in the template geoprocessing model recreated using ArcGIS Pro 3.6 or later, you may now have access to settings that may be incompatible with previous versions of ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise. When modifying any diagram configuration tool settings along the diagram rule and diagram layout sequence, ensure that the modified settings remain compatible with the ArcGIS Enterprise version of the portal on which the associated service was published before running the template geoprocessing model. If you have any doubt, you can have a look to the Network Diagram toolbox history help topic and check if the parameter you are editing already exist for the version of ArcGIS Pro that is equivalent with your portal's ArcGIS Enterprise version.
