The Migration toolset in the Utility Network toolbox contains three tools that provide a simplified process for the migration of existing data into a utility network to support basic editing and tracing workflows.
The Apply Error Resolutions tool enables the automated resolution of common error types discovered in a network. The tool takes an Error Resolutions table as the input, which can be generated using the Analyze Network Data tool or created manually. This table contains an ErrorAction field, which defines the type of edits to be performed to resolve the error in the utility network.
Caution:
This tool modifies the input utility network. Ensure that a backup exists before running the tool in case unintended modifications are made.
Requirements
The following requirements must be met to analyze network data and discover common error types:
- The network topology can be enabled or disabled.
- The following requirements must be met when working with an
enterprise geodatabase:
When working with an enterprise geodatabase, the Input Utility Network parameter value must be from a database connection established as the database utility network owner.
- The input utility network must be in a nonversioned state to run the Apply Error Resolutions tool.
Apply error actions to a utility network
To apply error actions from the Error Resolutions table to address common error types in a utility network, complete the following steps:
- On the Analysis tab, in the Geoprocessing group, click Tools
to open the Geoprocessing pane. - In the Geoprocessing pane, search for and select Apply Error Resolutions.
- For the Input Utility Network parameter, specify a utility network.
Utility networks from a feature service are not supported.
- For the Resolution Table parameter, provide the name of the Error Resolutions table previously modified that contains the error actions that should be used to edit a utility network.
- If the resolution table contains selected records, specify whether the Use the selected records parameter should be enabled or disabled.
When enabled, only the selected records in the resolution table are evaluated for the apply operation. This is the default. When disabled, all records in the resolution table will be evaluated for the apply operation.
- If the resolution table contains selected records, specify whether the Use the selected records parameter should be enabled or disabled.
- Optionally, for the Output Location parameter, provide the path to a folder that will contain the output folder and logs.
- Optionally, for the Output Name parameter, specify the name for the output folder that will be created in the output location.
A folder is created with the Output Name value provided in the location specified for the Output Location parameter containing .csv log files for every feature class modified by the tool.
- Click Run.
The resolutions specified in the ErrorAction attribute field are applied to edit the utility network, and log files are created in the specified location for the modified feature classes. You can review the edits the tool made to your utility network classes by clicking View Details in the status banner at the bottom of the Geoprocessing pane and opening the messages window.
