You can select features in a map or scene interactively, or you can select them based on their symbol class. When you select by symbol class, you choose the selection method from the list at the bottom of the color palette.
The following symbology types support selection by symbol class:
To create a selection set of features from a layer using a symbol class, complete the following steps:
- In the Contents pane, expand a feature layer and right-click the symbol of an individual class.
- On the color palette, choose a selection method:
- Select features in this class—Select all features in this symbol class.
- Add features in this class to selection—Update the current selection by adding all features in this symbol class.
- Remove features in this class from selection—Unselect all currently selected features in this symbol class.
- Work with the selected features or clear the selection by clicking Clear
in the Selection group on the Map tab. You can also deselect all selected features at once by clicking somewhere in the view where there are no features or clicking a feature of a layer that is not selectable.
