Get started with ArcGIS Bathymetry

ArcGIS Bathymetry is a system for producing and managing bathymetric data. ArcGIS Bathymetry provides tools for creating a Bathymetric Information System (BIS), creating products, editing, and exporting BIS data.

Bathymetry tools

ArcGIS Bathymetry includes the following:

  • Tools to create and manage a BIS:
    • Create BIS
      Note:

A BIS created at ArcGIS Pro 3.1 is not compatible with ArcGIS Bathymetry tools at ArcGIS Pro 3.2 and later. A new BIS must be created with the Create BIS tool to use with Bathymetry tools at version 3.2 and later.

    • Add Data To BIS
    • Add Point Data To BIS
    • Analyze BIS
    • Remove Data From BIS
    • Replace Footprints—A script tool provided in the product data files that can be used to replace BIS footprints
  • Tools that generalize soundings and bathymetric triangulated irregular network (TIN) data:
    • Tools to create and manage S-102 products:
      • Add S-102 Fields—A script tool provided in the product data files that can be used to add S-102 fields to the QualityofBathymetricCoverage featureAttributeTable
      • Export To S-102—A tool provided in the product data files that can be used to export data to an S-102 product

The Bathymetric Attributed Grid (BAG) support, Bathymetry web app, and Replace Footprints files are available in the product data installer available from My Esri as an additional ArcGIS Pro download under Data and Content.

Supported product specifications

ArcGIS Bathymetry supports the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) product specification S-102 v. 3.0.0 in ArcGIS Pro 3.6.
