S-100 Exchange Set Editor

Available with ArcGIS Maritime license.

An integral component of the S-100 hydrographic data model is the exchange set. Part 17 of the S-100 Hydrographic Data Model provided by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) defines an exchange set as a “data container that provides all the elements needed for the reliable and secure exchange of S-100 conformant data.” This includes the S-100 datasets, discovery metadata, and catalog metadata. An S-100 exchange set may contain multiple S-100 product specifications that may have their own associated metadata. In a complete exchange set, this metadata may be referenced by a single exchange catalog at the root of the exchange set.

In addition to packaging datasets, exchange sets also handle the cryptographic components of S-100 data exchange. The S-100 encryption standards are designed to safeguard digital content, prevent unauthorized production of machine-readable S-100 exchange sets, enable selective access of data, and provide a means for authentication. Regardless of the encryption status, an exchange set must contain a valid signature for its data to be used in an ECDIS.

You can use the S-100 Exchange Set Editor tool in ArcGIS Pro to build exchange sets. The S-100 export tools generate an exchange catalog when S-100 products are exported. These catalogs can then be loaded in the S-100 Exchange Set Editor pane, modified, and exported into a single exchange set that contains all of the product specifications and their datasets.

Note:

To use the digital signature and cryptographic capabilities of the S-100 Exchange Set Editor pane, the AgencyDetails.xml file must be appropriately configured.
