Supported AutoCAD and MicroStation geometry

ArcGIS Pro reads CAD files as CAD feature datasets that contain read-only CAD feature classes. The following table identifies the supported CAD entities from AutoCAD and MicroStation and the corresponding ArcGIS feature class geometry type..

Note:

Content stored in AutoCAD paper space or sheets model in MicroStation is not translated, and it is not viewable in ArcGIS Pro. A single MicroStation file may contain multiple model drawings containing valid geometry used by ArcGIS Pro.

Annotation

  • The TextString field contains the GIS version of the text.
  • The CAD text string without formatting codes is stored in the TEXT and Refname fields.
  • The CAD version of the text with possible CAD formatting codes is stored in the TxtMemo field.
  • Symbols are rendered with equivalent ArcGIS fonts. The Arial font is substituted if an equivalent symbol is unavailable.

  • The base point determines the point's location.
