Manage symbology items

The Manage user defined symbology page, in the Symbology pane, is used for many management tasks of the symbology items:

  • Add—Add another symbology item for this layer.
  • Validate—Validate symbology items. This is important if you imported a layer file.
  • Move selected values up—Move the symbology item up in the list.
  • Move selected values down—Move the symbology item down in the list.
  • Copy—Make a duplicate of the symbology item. Once you have created a duplicate, you can use Edit Item and Edit Symbol to customize it.
  • Remove—Delete the symbology item. This is important when there is a symbology item that fails validation.
  • Apply—Use the symbology item to draw the raster layer in the map and set the proper variable or template.
  • Edit item—Edit the properties of the symbology item, such as Symbology Name, Symbology Type, Processing Type, and Name of the processing type.
  • Edit Symbol—Edit the symbology parameters of the symbology item. When you have updated the symbology properties, click the Back button to return to the Manage user defined symbology page. Any updates to the symbology item will not update the map drawing unless you apply the symbology item.
