Subnetworks table

The Subnetworks table stores information about all the existing and deleted subnetworks in a utility network. Each row represents a subnetwork controller and information about its subnetwork. Information in the Subnetworks table is updated when the subnetwork is updated, when the topology is enabled or validated, and when changes are made to a subnetwork. To learn more, see Concepts and operations.

Note:

The Subnetworks table is a system-maintained table and is read-only.

The Subnetworks table stores information about the following:

  • The subnetwork controller or controllers defining a subnetwork
  • The tier to which a subnetwork belongs
  • Whether a subnetwork is clean, dirty, or invalid
  • Whether the terminal on a device feature or nonspatial junction object is removed (is deleted = true) as being a subnetwork controller
  • The last time information about a subnetwork was exported
  • Editor tracking details

See View the Subnetworks table for more information on how to access the Subnetworks table.

The Subnetworks table has the following attributes:

Tip:

The Subnetworks table can be ordered by the Subnetwork name column to group all subnetwork controllers belonging to a single subnetwork, or you can use Tier name to show all subnetworks belonging to a specific tier.

Field nameField aliasDescription

OBJECTID

Object ID

The object ID for the record in the table.

SUBNETWORKCONTROLLERNAME

Subnetwork controller name

The name of the subnetwork controller device or junction object.

TIERRANK

Tier rank

The rank number assigned to the tier to which the subnetwork belongs.

TIERNAME

Tier name

The name of the tier to which the subnetwork belongs.

TIERTOPOLOGYTYPE

Tier topology type

The topology type of the tier to which the subnetwork belongs.

FEATUREGLOBALID

Feature Global ID

The global ID of the feature class to which the controller device or junction object belongs.

FEATUREASSETGROUP

Feature asset group

The name of the asset group to which the subnetwork controller belongs.

FEATUREASSETTYPE

Feature asset type

The name of the asset type to which the subnetwork controller belongs.

FEATURESOURCEID

Feature network source id

The name of the class for the subnetwork controller.

LASTUPDATESUBNETWORK

Last update subnetwork

The last time the subnetwork was updated using the Update Subnetwork tool.

LASTACKEXPORTSUBNETWORK

Last ack export subnetwork

The last time the subnetwork was exported using the Export Subnetwork tool.

Note:
This attribute is only updated when the Set export acknowledgement check box on the tool is checked.

DOMAINNETWORKNAME

Domain network name

The domain network to which the subnetwork controller belongs.

ISDIRTY

Is dirty / Status (for newly created utility networks)

The Is dirty attribute indicates whether the subnetwork is clean, dirty, or invalid.

ISDELETED

Is deleted

Indicates whether the terminal on the subnetwork controller still exists as a subnetwork controller. True means the terminal has been removed and is no longer set as a subnetwork controller, while false means it is set as a subnetwork controller.

To delete an entire subnetwork from the table, all the associated subnetwork controllers that define the subnetwork (have the same subnetwork name) must return true for Is Deleted. This might include more than one row if there are multiple subnetwork controllers for the subnetwork. The Export Subnetwork tool is used to delete the record or records from the table with the Set export acknowledged parameter checked.

Note:

When the update subnetwork policy for a tier is configured to not manage the Is dirty attribute and the Is Deleted attribute is set to true, the update subnetwork operation can be used in the default version to delete rows in the Subnetworks table.

SUBNETLINEGLOBALID

Subnet line global ID

The global ID of the record in the SubnetLine feature class associated with the subnetwork.

DESCRIPTION

Description

The description associated with the subnetwork controller.
