A 3D object scene layer can be created using the Create 3D Object Scene Layer Package geoprocessing tool, which generates a scene layer package (.slpk) file. Alternatively, a 3D object scene layer can be created by sharing a web scene layer. This creates a scene layer with an associated feature layer, which provides richer statistically information to be used in symbology and definition query.
A 3D object scene layer package file can be displayed in ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Earth, and then uploaded to ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online using the Share Package geoprocessing tool to publish it as a service layer.
The input data type for a 3D object scene layer in ArcGIS Pro is a multipatch.
Create a 3D object scene layer using the Create Scene Layer Package tool
- Open the Create 3D Object Scene Layer Package geoprocessing tool.
- Choose a multipatch layer in the scene as the Input Layer.
- Specify the name of the Output Scene Package.
- Optionally choose an Output Coordinate System to use.
The spatial reference of the output scene layer package can be any projected coordinate system or GCS_WGS_1984. If a Z-datum is defined, the linear unit must match that of the horizontal coordinate system. If the horizontal coordinate system is expressed in geographic coordinates, the vertical coordinate system must use meters.
- Optionally set a Geographic Transformation.
The datum transformation method will be used when the input layer's spatial reference uses a datum that differs from the output coordinate system. All transformations are bidirectional, irrespective of the direction implied by its name. For example, NAD_1927_to_WGS_1984_3 will work correctly even if the datum conversion is going from WGS84 to NAD 1927.
- Click Run to execute the tool.
