Follow the instructions below to setup the Volfoni active shutter RF 3D vision kit for stereo mapping in ArcGIS Pro. These instructions are based on the Windows 10 operating system.
Requirements and prerequisite
The following hardware and software are required:
- ArcGIS Pro (Standard) 2.4 or later installed and licensed.
- ArcGIS Image Analyst extension, activated.
- A 3D stereoscopic monitor that supports a minimum refresh rate of 120Hz, connected to the computer system.
- A desktop computer with a Quadro graphics card that supports stereoscopic viewing and has a 3-pin mini-din connection embedded or connected using a bracket. See Set up the NVIDIA Quadro GPU and 3D monitor for stereoscopic mapping for instructions.
- A second computer to download and install the latest Volfoni loader software.
- Volfoni Activhub_RF50 emitter.
- Volfoni Edge RF 3D glasses.
Before starting the steps below, charge the Volfoni Edge RF 3D glasses using the USB cable that's included with the glasses.
Set up and configure the Volfoni stereoscopic viewing components
To set up and configure the Volfoni active shutter RF 3D vision kit, complete the following steps:
- Ensure that the computer is powered off.
- Connect the Activhub Radio Frequency 50 (AHUB-RF50) emitter to the graphics card mini-pin port at the back of the computer using the VESA-DIN3 to Jack 3.5 connection cable that's included.
- Ensure that the monitor is connected to the CPU using a cable that supports stereoscopic display.
- Turn on the computer and monitor.
Once the computer is turned on and a 3D signal is being received from the graphics card, a blue light on the Activhub RF50 device will rapidly blink twice every three seconds.
- Before using the Edge RF 3D glasses, download and install the latest Volfoni loader software version on a separate computer.
This avoids configuration conflicts with the Activhub RF50 that is already installed.
- Connect the Edge RF 3D glasses to the computer using the USB cable that's included.
This cable can also be used to charge the glasses.
- Press the power button on the glasses for three seconds to sync the glasses with the software and open the application.
Alternatively, double-click the Volfoni Loader button to open the application.
The Volfoni Loader application opens, showing a picture of the detected device.
- In the Volfoni Loader window, click Check for updates, and install the latest version if updates are available.
- When you're finished, click Quit to close the Volfoni Loader window.
- Leave the glasses connected until fully charged.
A steady red light above the nose piece of the glasses indicates the glasses are charging. When the glasses are fully charged, the light turns off.
- When fully charged, disconnect the glasses, and change the switch button to position C.
The glasses and emitter are ready for use once you complete the computer 3D setup.
