Use the SAR source type

The SAR source type is a raster property that is used to identify and help visualize synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data, which includes being able to visualize your SAR data with the Square Root or Logarithm stretch types.

The SAR source type is automatically set for all unprocessed SAR sensor data starting in ArcGIS Pro 3.5. It will also be set for any unprocessed data that uses the Synthetic Aperture Radar toolset.

Radar data with the SAR Source Type property

Note:

If you have SAR data that was processed in ArcGIS Pro 3.4 or earlier, or data that was processed by a third-party vendor, you can still set the source type to SAR, using the workflow below.

Set raster data with the SAR source type

To set your data with the SAR source type, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Analysis tab, click the Tools button Tools.
  2. In the Geoprocessing pane, search for the Set Raster Properties tool.
  3. Open the Set Raster Properties tool.
  4. Choose the Input Raster dataset that you want to update.
  5. Set the Data Source Type parameter to SAR.
  6. Click Run to run the tool.

The tool will set the Source Type property to SAR. This dataset can now be visualized using the default SAR rendering.
