To perform network analyses, you need a network dataset that models a street network and has certain parameters defined. You can create a network dataset in one of the following ways:
- Create Network Dataset tool—Run the Create Network Dataset geoprocessing tool to create a network dataset. Once the network dataset is created, you can configure the properties of the network dataset using the network dataset properties page. See Create a network dataset tutorial to learn more.
- Create Network Dataset From Template tool— If you have a template and data with a well-defined schema, you can use the Create Network Dataset From Template geoprocessing tool to create a network dataset.
