Update a survey-based Indoor Positioning Dataset

Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the ArcGIS IPS extension.

Updating an existing Indoor Positioning Dataset with new data ensures that the dataset remains up to date, and can potentially improve indoor positioning accuracy.

To update a survey-based Indoor Positioning Dataset, complete the following steps:

  1. Start ArcGIS Pro.
  2. Open an ArcGIS IPS map or prepare a new map in ArcGIS Pro.
  3. On the ribbon, click the Analysis tab and click Tools Tools.

    The Geoprocessing pane appears.

  4. In the Geoprocessing pane, click the Toolboxes tab.
  5. Expand Indoor Positioning Tools and click Generate Indoor Positioning Dataset.

The Generate Indoor Positioning Dataset tool opens in the Geoprocessing pane.

  6. Click the Target IPS Positioning Datasets drop-down arrow, or click the Browse button Browse, and choose the IPS Positioning Datasets feature class.
  7. Provide a unique name for the dataset in the Dataset Name text box.

A warning message appears, informing you that a dataset with the same name already exists and a new one will be created if you proceed.

  8. Click the Generation Method drop-down arrow and click Survey-based.
  9. Click the Level Features drop-down arrow, or click the Browse button Browse, and choose the Levels feature class.

The chosen feature class should contain only level features where you want to update the dataset.

  10. Click the IPS Recordings Features drop-down arrow, or click the Browse button Browse, and choose the IPS Recordings feature class.

Provide survey recordings features at the locations where you want to update the dataset.

  11. Click Run.

The tool generates an updated version of the user-specified Indoor Positioning Dataset by including new indoor positioning data at the specific locations where the survey recordings were provided. This data is added at the locations where there is an overlap with the specified dataset. The new dataset retains the name specified in the Dataset Name field, but with a suffix added to differentiate it from the original dataset.
