Set sketch symbology options

Application editing options for sketch symbology include settings for vertices, segments, and control points that symbolize unfinished sketch geometry. These options are available on the Options dialog box on the Editing side tab.

To customize the symbology of unfinished sketch geometry, complete the following steps:

  1. On the ribbon, click the Edit tab and click the Options dialog box launcher Launcher in the Manage Edits group.

    The Options dialog box appears.

  2. Click the Editing side tab and expand Symbology.
  3. Expand Vertices, click the type of vertex handle you want to customize and change the following settings:
    • Reset to default Reset—Reset all settings to the default values.
    • Vertex unselected—Change the appearance of unselected vertices.
    • Vertex selected—Change the appearance of selected vertices.
    • Current vertex unselected—Change the appearance of the last vertex in a geometry sequence when it isn't selected.
    • Current vertex selected—Change the appearance of the last vertex in a geometry sequence when it is selected.
  4. Expand Control Points, click the type of control point handle you want to customize, and change the following settings:

    To enable control points, check the Enable control points check box.

    • Reset to default Reset—Reset all settings to the default values.
    • Enable control points—Check the box.
    • Vertex unselected—Change the appearance of unselected vertices.
    • Vertex selected—Change the appearance of selected vertices.
    • Current vertex unselected—Change the appearance of the last vertex in a geometry sequence when it isn't selected.
    • Current vertex selected—Change the appearance of the last vertex in a geometry sequence when it is selected.
  5. Expand Segments to change the following settings:
    • Reset to default Reset— Reset all settings to the default values.
    • Primary Color—Change the color of unfinished segments.
    • Secondary Color—Change the color of the dashed segments that appear at the center of segments. Uncheck this setting to hide the secondary dashed lines.
    • Width—Change the display width of the segment symbology.
  6. Click OK.

    Your settings are saved and the dialog box closes.
