Turn snapping on or off by layer

The List By Snapping tab List By Snapping in the Contents pane includes check boxes that turn snapping on or off by layer. When you add a layer to a map or scene, it is automatically enabled as snappable. Layers with snapping disabled remain visible but undetectable by your active snap agents.

Tip:

Layer snapping operates independent of the pointer snap settings. If the scale or complexity of your feature data is causing unwanted snapping, layer snapping settings can be an effective part of your overall snapping strategy that includes adjusting the snapping tolerance and configuring snap agents.

To turn snapping on or off by layer, complete the following steps:

  1. On the ribbon, click the View tab. In the Windows group, click Contents Contents.
  2. Click the List By Snapping tab List By Snapping in the Contents pane.
