Editing template warnings and errors

The Create Features pane displays warnings and errors for editing templates that create nonvisible features or are unable to create features. Additionally, it hides templates if they create features for layers that are not visible or editable.

Hover over a warning or error icon to view information about the cause and a possible remedy described in the following tables.

The Warning icon Warning appears next to the name of an active template if it creates features that are not visible in the active view.

Missing symbol

The attribute value for the symbol is missing or the symbology has changed. Symbology must be of single-symbol type, or unique symbols.

Add the missing value to the feature template, change the layer symbology to single symbol or unique symbols, or create a new feature template.

Layer is not visible

The scale range for the layer is outside the current map scale.

Zoom in or out to display the layer.

Failed definition query

An attribute value required by the definition query is missing.

Add the missing values to the feature template or modify the definition query for the layer.

Layer is time enabled

One or more attribute values that specify time are outside the expected range.

Change the appropriate template attribute values or disable the Layer Time property.

Layer is range enabled

One or more attribute values that specify range are outside the expected extent.

Change the appropriate template attribute values or disable the Layer Range property.

Domain Not Satisfied

The template attribute values are outside the defined domain.

Change the appropriate template attribute values to a valid domain value.

Optional Contingent Values

The template attribute values do not satisfy the optional contingent attribute values.

Change the appropriate template attribute values.

The Error icon Exclamation Stop appears next to the name of an active template if it is unable to create features in the active view.

Change the appropriate template attribute values to a valid domain value or turn off the Enforce Attribute Validation application editing option.

Required Contingent Values

The template attribute values do not satisfy the required contingent attribute values.

Change the appropriate template attribute values to a valid domain value or change the field group to optional.

Hidden templates

Editing templates are not shown for layers that are either not visible or not editable. To view them in the template notification view, click Click here to see templates not listed Information.

In the Missing Feature Template Notification view, click and expand a layer name to view information about why its templates are hidden To close the view, click the Back arrow Back.

Check the layer check box to enable visibility and display the layer.

Layer has no templates

No templates exist for this layer.

Create a feature template for this layer.
