You can load an S-100 exchange catalog in ArcGIS Pro to view and edit its contents.
To load an exchange catalog in the S-100 Exchange Set Editor pane, complete the following steps:
- Add a feature layer from an S-100 database to the map to activate the Maritime S-100 tab.
- On the Maritime S-100 tab, in the S-100 Editing group, click S-100 Exchange Set Editor
. The S-100 Exchange Set Editor pane appears and is composed of the following sections:
- The navigation section, which allows you to select and add elements of the XML tree
- The editing section, which allows you to edit the attributes associated with the selected element
The presence and orientation of the navigation and editing sections can be controlled with the arrows on the dividing bar. The up-arrow hides the navigation section, the down-arrow hides the editing section, and the bar changes the orientation of the two sections. You can configure the editor to your preferred orientation.
- In the S-100 Exchange Set Editor pane, click Load.
- Browse to the location of the S-100 exchange catalog you want to load.
- Double-click the S100_Root folder, and click CATALOG.XML.
- Click Open.
The navigation section of the S-100 Exchange Set Editor pane is populated with the contents of the selected catalog. Click an arrow next to a node to expand the child elements.

to remove existing instances of an element. - In the navigation section of the S-100 Exchange Set Editor pane, select the S-100 Exchange Catalogue element.
The selected element is highlighted in blue. The dataServerIdentifier field is populated in the editing section. The dataServerIdentifier field identifies the data server for the permit.
- Click productSpecification.
In this case, the editing section is not populated with editable attributes. Some elements of the exchange catalog do not contain attributes, rather they contain child elements with editable attributes.
- Expand the tree view for productSpecification to view its child elements.
- Click the name of the product, such as [1] Electronic Navigational Chart, and review the attributes in the editing section.
You can continue to explore the contents of the exchange set by expanding the tree view for a nested element to expand its contents. There are many components of an exchange set; collapse the tree view for an element to retract the contents of an element.
You can now package S-100 exchange sets and export them. You can also encrypt and export them.
