24164: <value> will not be available for use in ArcGIS Pro <value> or earlier

You are sharing a project package, map package, or layer package that contains data or a project item that cannot be used in earlier versions of ArcGIS Pro.

Packages created using the commands on the Share ribbon contain 2.x and 3.x content, allowing users working with ArcGIS Pro 3.x to continue collaborating using ArcGIS Pro 2.x. Since new functionality may be added at each release, some datasets or project items created in newer versions of ArcGIS Pro may not be available for use in earlier versions. For example, ArcGIS Pro 3.x versions have new functionality, which means that some datasets created or upgraded to 3.x will not be available in ArcGIS Pro 2.x.

The following are examples of dataset types and project items that are not available in earlier versions of ArcGIS Pro:

  • Annotation layers (supported at ArcGIS Pro 3.0)
  • Dimension layers (supported at ArcGIS Pro 3.0)
  • Utility network layers (supported at ArcGIS Pro 3.0)
  • Trace network layers (supported at ArcGIS Pro 3.0)
  • Oriented imagery layers (supported at ArcGIS Pro 3.2)
  • Feature layers containing the following field types (supported at ArcGIS Pro 3.2):
    • Big integer
    • Date only
    • Time only
    • Timestamp offset
  • Presentations (supported at ArcGIS Pro 3.3)

The first <value> parameter refers to the dataset type or project item.

The second <value> parameter is the version of ArcGIS Pro.

Solutions

Do one of the following:

  • If a backup of the dataset was created before it was upgraded, add the backup dataset to the map instead.
  • Do nothing. The data source of the layer or project item will be broken if the package is opened in an older version of ArcGIS Pro.
