A geodata service allows you to access a geodatabase through a local area network (LAN) or the internet using ArcGIS Server. Starting at ArcGIS Pro 3.0, you can share a geodata service to ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1 or later. Using a service, you can perform geodatabase replication operations, make copies using data extraction, and run queries in the geodatabase. A geodata service can be added for enterprise geodatabases and file geodatabases.
To share a file geodatabase as a geodata service, the ArcGIS Server account must have permissions to access the geodatabase. To share an enterprise geodatabase as a geodata service, the ArcGIS Server account must have permissions to access the geodatabase and the connection file used to connect to the geodatabase. Sharing from an enterprise geodatabase requires that the enterprise geodatabase connection file uses a traditional version connection.

Follow these steps to share a geodata service to ArcGIS Enterprise:
- On the Share tab, in the Share As group, click the
Geodata Service drop-down menu and click Share As Geodata Service .
The Select the File Geodatabase or Enterprise Geodatabase to Share dialog box appears.
- Browse to and select the geodatabase to share and click OK.
The Share Geodata Service pane appears.
- Fill in the information on the General tab of the Share Geodata Service pane.
- Keep or change the name of the geodata service in the Name text box; the default name is derived from the geodatabase.
- Optionally, complete the Summary and Tags fields.
You can enter a maximum of 128 tags.
- Under Location, use the Portal Folder menu to choose a folder in your portal content in which to store the geodata service. Alternatively, create a folder.
By default, the geodata service is stored at the root level of your portal content.
Click the Browse button to browse to a folder in your portal content. You can also type a folder name in the text box.
- Use the Server and Folder drop-down menus to specify the federated server where the service is published and the folder where it is stored. Alternatively, create a folder.
By default, the geodata service is stored in the root folder of the hosting server.
- Specify how the geodata service will be shared:
- Everyone—Share your content with the public. Anyone can access and see it.
- My Organization—Share your content with all authenticated users in the organization. This option is available when you are signed in with an organizational account.
- Groups—Share your content with groups to which you belong and their members.
Alternatively, leave all options unchecked to set the sharing level to the owner of the item.
- Optionally, modify the geodata service properties on the Configuration tab of the Share Geodata Service pane.
- Review the folder structure into which the geodata service will be shared on the Content tab of the Share Geodata Service pane.
- Under Finish Publishing, click Analyze to identify potential issues or limitations.
Errors and warnings are listed on the Messages tab. Right-click a message to open its help topic or take corrective action in the software. Errors must be resolved before you can share the geodata service or save the service definition. Resolving warnings is recommended but not required.
- After you have resolved errors, and optionally, resolved warnings, click Publish to share the geodata service.
To save a service definition for the geodata service instead, click the Publish drop-down arrow and click Save As SD. For more information, see Save a service definition for a geodata service.
- Optionally, click Jobs to monitor the job status.
- Once the geodata service has been published, click the Manage the geodata service link to manage the geodata service through your portal.
The geodata service is now published on the federated server on your portal and can be accessed by users and clients on your network.
