Gets the geodetic area of the input geometry.

Syntax

geometry: The input geometry. Cannot be null and its spatial reference cannot be null.
areaUnit: The units of the output. If null, then the output is in meters
curveType: The GeodeticCurveType of the segments.

The calculated geodetic area in . If is null, then the area is in square meters.

If the geometry is empty, then zero is returned.

Exceptions

Exception	Description
System.ArgumentNullException	Geometry is null or geometry's spatial reference is null.
System.NotImplementedException	The method is not implemented for GeometryBag or Multipatch.
System.NotImplementedException	Spatial reference of geometryis an image coordinate system.

Geodetic area is calculated by defining the segments between points as determined by .
