Space-time cube layer

A space-time cube layer is a feature layer that represents a netCDF space-time cube. It is a three-dimensional layer representing x, y, and time, which can be explored in a scene. The space-time cube layer allows you to visualize and interact with the variables and analysis results stored in a space-time cube.

Create a space-time cube layer

A netCDF space-time cube is required to create a space-time cube layer.  You can create a space-time cube by using one of the tools in the Space Time Cube Creation toolset. Space-time cubes can also be the analysis output of a tool from the Time Series Forecasting toolset or the Time Series AI toolset. Space-time cubes have an .nc file extension.

Once you create a space-time cube, you can use the Make Space Time Cube Layer tool to generate a space-time cube layer. The tool accepts a space-time cube (.nc) as input and allows you to specify which variables from the space-time cube to include in the space-time cube layer. You can also decide whether to visualize the space-time cube bins as points or polygons. The space-time cube layer will be added to the Contents pane. It will include a copy of all the specified variables and their associated analysis results from the original space-time cube.

Note:

The space-time cube layer represents a 3D space-time cube and should be added to a scene.

If you select the space-time cube layer, it activates the space-time cube ribbon which provides several methods you can use to interact with the visualized space-time cube.
