110252: The maximum number of iterations was reached while searching for the optimal neighborhood.

Description

The tool could not estimate an acceptable search distance or number of neighbors.

This warning is included if the AICc does not converge after 25 iterations searching for an optimal search distance or number of neighbors. The tool will use the value estimated on the 25th iteration.

For the Gradient Search option of the Neighborhood Selection Method parameter in the Multiscale Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) tool, the tool will attempt up to 250 iterations.

Solution

No action is required. However, providing values for the Minimum Search Distance and Maximum Search Distance parameters may allow the tool to estimate an acceptable search distance or number of neighbors.

Review the geoprocessing messages for a history of the search distances or numbers of neighbors that were tested. For the Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) tool, the information can be found in the Golden Search Results section of the messages. For the Multiscale Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) tool, the information can be found in the Optimal Bandwidths Search History section of the messages. MGWR estimates different search distances or numbers of neighbors for each explanatory variable, so the failure to converge can be from any of the explanatory variables.

Narrowing or widening the range of tested values may allow the estimation to converge and resolve the warning.
