Split a centerline by point

Disponible con licencia de Location Referencing.

The Split Centerline By Point tool is one of the centerline feature class editing tools available in ArcGIS Roads and Highways. This tool is useful to split a centerline into two contiguous parts at a location clicked on the map to create a route that does not span a complete centerline. This tool is typically used to split a centerline relative to some feature being snapped to, like an intersection, county boundary, or railroad crossing.

Roads and Highways also supports splitting a centerline using a measure value (see Split a centerline by measure).

Nota:

You should not use the Split tool on the Edit tab to split a centerline. Instead, use the Split Centerline tool on the Location Referencing tab to split a centerline. This tool ensures that when a centerline is split, the source centerline's association to routes in all networks across all time is maintained.

  1. Add the centerline and network feature class to a map.

You can also open a map in which the centerline and network feature class is already present.

    Nota:

The information model expects only one centerline at any given location. Ensure that the centerlines you're using for your edit do not overlap other centerlines in your LRS.

    Nota:

Traditionally versioned networks must be edited through a direct connection to the geodatabase. Branch versioned networks, including any network configured with a user-generated route ID, must be edited through a feature service.

  2. Zoom to the centerline that you want to split.
  3. On the Location Referencing tab, click Split Centerline and then click the Split Centerline By Point button Split Centerline By Point.
  4. Click a point on the centerline where you want it to split.

The centerline on both sides of the split location flashes in dark green and the centerline splits into two parts.

    Nota:

If additional fields are modeled on the centerline, attributes from those fields on the centerline being split will be added to the new centerlines resulting from the split.

    Nota:

If a message about acquiring locks or reconciling appears, conflict prevention is enabled.
