The aviation vertical scale bar is a map element for aeronautical charts. The purpose of a scale bar is to provide, in context, a sense of scale to your map. Unlike the Terrain and Obstacle Profile (TOP) map element and other horizontal scale bars, the aviation vertical scale bar is not dynamically linked to a map frame. Instead, the unit of measurement for the aviation vertical scale bar is determined by the unit of measurement you choose for the map layout. You must provide a reference scale in the format <units on the page>:<real-world height measurement>.
Add the aviation vertical scale bar to a map layout
You can add the aviation vertical scale bar as a map surround to a map layout in ArcGIS Pro.
- Start ArcGIS Pro.
- Open a project containing Aviation data.
- Click Insert, and click New Layout.
- Choose the size for the layout from the drop-down menu.
A new map layout appears in a new pane.
- Click Insert, and click Additional Surrounds in the Map Surrounds group.
- Choose Aviation Vertical Scale Bar from the drop-down menu.
- Click anywhere on the map layout.
The aviation vertical scale bar is added to the map layout and appears in the Contents pane.
Configure the aviation vertical scale bar
After adding the aviation vertical scale bar to a map layout in ArcGIS Pro, you can configure the map element. You can configure the aviation vertical scale bar to meet your organization's criteria for aeronautical charts.
Open the Aviation Vertical Scale Bar pane
Before you can configure the aviation vertical scale bar, you must open the Aviation Vertical Scale Bar pane. To open it from the Contents pane, double-click the Aviation Vertical Scale Bar map element or right-click the Aviation Vertical Scale Bar map element and click Properties. Alternatively, double-click the element on the map layout.
Configure the Vertical Scale Bar section
You can configure the Vertical Scale Bar section of the Aviation Vertical Scale Bar pane. This section contains general properties for the aviation vertical scale bar.
- Type a numerical value in the Feet Bar Height text box.
The Feet Bar Height property determines the height of the aviation vertical scale bar in feet.
- Type a numerical value in the Meter Bar Height text box.
The Meter Bar Height property determines the height of the aviation vertical scale bar in meters.
- Check the Feet Visible check box to view the height of the aviation vertical scale bar in feet on the map layout.
- Check the Meter Visible check box to view the height of the aviation vertical scale bar in meters on the map layout.
- Check the Feet On Right check box to swap the position of the aviation vertical scale bar feet units to the right side of the map element.
注意:
The default position of the aviation vertical scale bar feet units is on the left side of the map element.
- Type a numerical value and a unit of measurement in the Scale: 1 Inch equals text box.
注意:
This value determines the scale of the aviation vertical scale bar. The unit of measurement shown on the label changes depending on the measurement units you choose for the map layout. For example, if the map layout is in centimeters, the label in the Aviation Vertical Scale Bar pane is Scale: 1 Centimeter equals.
- Check the One Division before Zero check box to add an extra segment of measurement below the 0 on the aviation vertical scale bar.
Configure the Meter and Feet sections
The Meter and Feet sections have options for styling the aviation vertical scale bar.
注意:
If you unchecked the Feet Visible check box in the Vertical Scale Bar section, the Feet section doesn't appear in the Aviation Vertical Scale Bar pane. Similarly, if you unchecked the Meter Visible check box in the Vertical Scale Bar section, it doesn't appear in the Aviation Vertical Scale Bar pane.
The values in each section are the same but apply to different properties of the aviation vertical scale bar.
- Type an integer value in the Divisions text box.
The aviation vertical scale bar is divided into equal segments based on the integer value you entered.
- Type an integer value in the Subdivisions text box.
The segments on the aviation vertical scale bar are divided into equal segments based on the integer value you entered.
- Type a numerical value in the Division Line Length text box to increase the horizontal length of the tick marks on the aviation vertical scale bar division segments.
- Type a numerical value in the Subdivision Line Length text box to increase the horizontal length of the tick marks on the aviation vertical scale bars subdivision segments.
- Type a value in the Unit Text text box to change the unit of measurement label on the aviation vertical scale bar.
- Set the symbology of the division tick marks next to Division Line Symbol.
- Set the symbology of the subdivision tick marks next to Subdivision Line Symbol.
- Set the symbology of the unit of measurement label next to Unit Text Symbol.
- Set the symbology of the tick mark labels next to Scale Text Symbol.
